This list does not include private events, like weddings. Call me so that I can add your venue to this list of wonderful places!
I handle my own bookings for both classical and folk performances.
If you have an idea or a need, feel free to contact me so that we can talk about it!
Folk shows range from 30 minutes to a full two hours with an intermission. A one-hour show is most typical. I also do "roving troubadour" events if you would prefer to have a strolling folk musician serenading your guests.
Depending on your venue and needs, the folk show will always involve numerous guitars, a dulcimer, and maybe even a banjo and mandolin!
Classical events vary enormously according to your needs. I am available for events where background music would be appropriate: wedding receptions, dinners, rehearsal dinners, art gallery events, open houses, arts festivals. Visit my classical guitar page for more information about that.
I typically provide my own sound system. I have both a small system for intimate venues and a larger sound system that can accommodate several hundred people or outdoor venues. An electrical outlet within 50 feet of the performance area is necessary at large venues. We'll talk about the venue beforehand, of course, so you don't have to worry if you don't have access to microphones, amplifiers, etc.
If you provide the sound system, I'll give you a tech sheet beforehand. Typically, I like to have two instrument lines (one with DI) and two mics. One arm-less, padded chair is required for dulcimer and classical guitar events. A stool for holding water, etc., is appreciated. Outdoor venues in the summer need to be in shade since neither instruments nor I fare well in full sun!

A house concert is a very economical way to host a folk event. House concerts are a great way to bring friends together or to host a social event for an organization. And it is soooo easy. There is hardly any work for you: just invite people and set up a few chairs.
You provide enough space (inside or outside) and seats for about 20 people. You can either charge at the door or pass the hat at intermission. I like the hat-passing better, since an admission charge tends to exclude students and other people on limited budgets (like seniors). You might also want to host a charity house concert, at which you split the take between me and a good cause. Sometimes folks will combine the concert with a potluck. If you do this option, a 5 pm meal time with a 7 pm concert usually works well.
A house concert can be one hour without an intermission or 90 minutes with an intermission.
If you'd like to talk more about this, please contact me!
This is the topic folks least like to discuss, but we have to! Cost varies by the type of event you're having and your location so please call or email me. I also do quite a few charity and public service events each year for free, so if you're from a good cause, please call me!
Sometimes, a free event is a good way for me to drum up (pun intended!) other business or sell CDs, so it's worthwhile for both of us. Please contact me to work out the details for your event!
